Shape the City's transport future through strategic planning, research, community engagement and delivery of sustainable transport projects city-wide.

  • 12 months contract with possible extension - HYBRID role
  • $72.06 per hour + Super
MCJ Appointments are seeking a strategic and collaborative Transport Planner to support the development and delivery of key transport strategies, infrastructure plans and city-shaping projects. Working within the Urban Policy and Planning team, you will combine research, data analysis, community consultation and stakeholder engagement to deliver practical transport outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing transport strategies, infrastructure plans and supporting policies
  • Researching government policy, emerging trends and transport planning best practice
  • Managing transport projects, consultants and procurement processes
  • Supporting active transport, complete streets, parking management and car-share initiatives
  • Reviewing planning proposals and development assessments
  • Preparing feasibility studies, Council reports, presentations and strategic advice
  • Engaging with the community and responding to public enquiries
  • Representing Council on Transport for NSW planning and project groups
  • Building effective relationships with government agencies and other stakeholders
  • Managing multiple projects, priorities, risks and deadlines
To succeed in this role, you will have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in transport planning, urban planning, land-use planning or a related discipline
  • Extensive knowledge of strategic transport planning practices
  • Experience in research, consultation, data analysis and strategy development
  • Strong project management and organisational skills
  • Experience producing high-quality strategic plans and professional reports
  • Excellent written, verbal and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong judgement, negotiation and problem-solving abilities
  • The ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams
  • A current Class C driver’s licence
  • Local government experience will be highly regarded
