Maintenance Tradesperson

MCJ Appointments is seeking an experienced Maintenance Tradesperson to join the Civil Asset Maintenance team of a major local council.
This hands-on role will involve installing, repairing and maintaining street furniture and public infrastructure, including road signs, bus shelters, Armco safety barriers and other civil assets. You will also assist with planning works, coordinating crews and ensuring worksites remain safe for employees and the community.
Key responsibilities

• Install and maintain street furniture and civil assets.
• Repair and replace road signs, barriers and associated infrastructure.
• Plan and organise programmed and responsive maintenance activities.
• Operate minor plant and equipment.
• Coordinate labourers, plant operators and subcontractors.
• Implement appropriate traffic-control arrangements.
• Conduct toolbox talks and workplace inductions when required.
• Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to specification.
• Maintain positive relationships with residents and the general public.

To be successful, you will have

• A recognised trade certificate.
• Extensive street-furniture installation and maintenance experience.
• Experience working with signs, bus shelters and Armco barriers.
• Knowledge of road and drainage maintenance operations.
• Previous experience supervising workers or subcontractors.
• Experience operating minor plant.
• A current MR driver’s licence.
• Relevant industry licences and safety certificates.
• A strong commitment to WHS, quality and customer service.
