Help restore Blacktown's bushland and wetlands through hands-on regeneration, weed control, revegetation and environmental monitoring work.

  • 12 month contract with possible extension
MCJ Appointments is seeking an experienced Bush Regenerator to join a local government team responsible for restoring and maintaining bushland reserves and constructed wetlands throughout the Blacktown Local Government Area.
This is a hands-on outdoor position suited to someone passionate about conservation, ecological restoration and protecting native environments.
Key responsibilities
  • Undertake bush regeneration and revegetation activities
  • Remove and control terrestrial and aquatic weeds
  • Restore endangered ecological communities across Council land
  • Maintain bushland reserves and constructed wetlands
  • Prepare sites and plant native and endemic species
  • Apply herbicides safely and in accordance with regulations
  • Conduct vegetation assessments and monitor project performance
  • Undertake water-quality and mosquito monitoring
  • Collect seeds from endemic plant species
  • Provide technical support and supervision to volunteer bush-care groups
  • Liaise with schools and community groups on environmental initiatives
  • Conduct educational tours of bushland and wetland areas
Essential requirements
  • Relevant qualification in Bush Regeneration, Conservation and Land Management, Horticulture, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science or a related discipline
  • At least 12 months’ experience maintaining Cumberland Plain bushland and constructed wetlands
  • Current NSW White Card
  • AQF Level 3 Pesticide Application Accreditation
  • Current Class C driver’s licence
  • Sound knowledge of bush regeneration, weed identification and safe herbicide application
  • Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
  • Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions
Desirable
  • Chainsaw operation certificate
  • Current MR driver’s licence
  • Experience supervising volunteers or community bush-care groups
